Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent to (REQUIRED).
- Current State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience as a CNA in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting (PREFERED).
Other Qualifications Required:
- Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms using the English language.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from residents, patients, physicians, peers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to work independently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patient Care: Provide compassionate, high-quality personal care to residents, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
- Support with Daily Activities: Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, mobility, and eating.
- Monitoring Vital Signs: Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested by nursing staff.
- Nutritional Support: Assess and assist with dietary needs and feedings ensuring that residents receive appropriate meals based on dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report any significant changes in residents’ conditions, including open wounds, bruises, or abnormal symptoms, to licensed nursing staff.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided using approved forms or electronic medical records (EMR).
- Responding to Needs: Promptly respond to call lights and resident needs, providing assistance as required.
- Infection Control: Follow infection control policies and procedures to ensure resident safety and well-being.
- Confidentiality: Safeguard patient information and uphold the organization’s standards of confidentiality.
- Professional Conduct: Abide by professional ethical standards, hospital policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ongoing Learning: Stay current on CNA training and facility policies, embracing opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with healthcare team members to enhance the quality of care and contribute to a supportive environment.
- Flexibility and Cross-Training: May be required to float to another unit or participate in cross-traininig opportunities (such as in acute care) as needed to maintain staffing levels and ensure continuity of care.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, move, or transfer residents as necessary, including assistance with mobility; with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds ( or more when using assistive devices) occasionally assist with heavier patients.
- Capable of pushing or pulling equipment, such as stretchers and wheelchairs, weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Capable of standing, walking, and physically supporting residents throughout shifts.
- Adept at using medical equipment and technology in a clinical environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly for extended periods.
- Ability to perform CPR and manage emergency situations.
- Dexterity for tasks like injections and operating medical equipment.
